ご挨拶「民の繁栄が、国の繁栄につながる」初代会頭渋沢栄一のその想いから、東京商工会議所の挑戦が始まりました。激動の時代・明治が始まってまだ日も浅い1878年、商工業者の立場がまだ社会的に低く見られていたこの時代に、当時38歳であった渋沢栄一は東京商法会議所(のちの東京商工会議所)を創立。商工業者の輿論を形成し、民間が自立的に力を発揮できる社会の実現をめざしました。企業の繁栄、首都・東京の発展、そしてわが国経済社会の発展。この使命を果たすため、現在に至る140年余にわたり東京商工会議所は企業とともに、その時々の課題に立ち向かってきました。変化を恐れない積極的な姿勢で、使命を果たすために挑みつづける。それこそが、創立以来の意志を受け継いできた私達の想いです。国の繁栄につながる民の繁栄の実現のために。明日の東京、日本のために。企業の繁栄によって、国の繁栄を実現する。企業・地域の皆様とともに東京商工会議所の挑戦は続きます。MessagefromtheChairman“Astheprosperityofthepeoplegoes,sogoestheprosperityofthestate.”ThechallengeofTheTokyoChamberofCommerceandIndustry(TCCI)beganwiththissentimentofEiichiShibusawa,ourfounderand1stChairman.In1878,whenthetumultuousMeijierahadjustgottenunderway,membersofcommerceandindustrywerestillconsideredtobeinalowlyposition.EiichiShibusawa,whowas38yearsoldatthetime,foundedthepredecessorofTCCI,whichwascalledTheTokyoChamberofCommerceandLaw.Theaimofthisinstitutionwastoshapeapublicopiniononmembersofcommerceandindustryandrealizeasocietyinwhichmembersoftheprivatesectorcouldindependentlymanifesttheircapability.InordertofulfillTCCI’smissionoftheprosperityofenterprisesandtheforwarddevelopmentofJapan’scapitalofTokyoandofthenation’seconomy,TCCIhastakenonthechallengesthatpresentedthemselvesoverits140-plusyearhistorytogetherwithenterprises.Wewillcontinuetotakeonsuchchallengesforthesakeoffulfillingourmissionwithaproactivestancethatdoesnotfearchange.That,morethananythingelse,isthesentimentthathasdriventhepassingdownofourfounder’sspiritovertime.ForthesakeofrealizingtheprosperityofthepeoplethatleadstostateprosperityandforthesakeoftheTokyoandJapanoftomorrow,wewillachievetheprosperityofthestatethroughtheprosperityofenterprises.Togetherwithmembersofenterprisesandcommunities,thechallengeofTCCIwillcontinue.東京商工会議所第22代会頭小林健KenKobayashi22ndChairmanTheTokyoChamberofCommerceandIndustry1TheTokyoChamberofCommerceandIndustry
